WDCSC joins Arlington partnership to promote pipeline of skilled workers
Arlington-area aerospace and advanced manufacturing businesses, educators, elected officials, and the media are invited to an open house on Friday, March 22, 2013 from 7:30 -9:00 AM at Arlington High School to learn more about the Aerospace Joint Apprenticeship Committee (AJAC) and its partnership with the city of Arlington and Arlington High School and tour the school's new metal shop. WDCSC and Aviation Technical Services host Senator Patty Murray
On February 19, 2013, WDCSC and Aviation Technical Services were pleased to host a business roundtable discussion with Senator Patty Murray. The roundtable featured local business owners and representatives from labor and education who discussed ways in which the Senator's role as Chairman of the Senate Budget Committee can help support educational and training programs that fill skills gaps and create a pipeline of skilled workers. Aerospace Career Fair a huge success
Over 900 job candidates gathered at the Future of Flight Aviation Center on February 20, 2013 for the Paine Field Aerospace Career Fair, hosted by WorkSource Snohomish County, WDCSC, and the Future of Flight Foundation. The fair featured 23 industry employers and seven educational providers offering information about local training options for aerospace career preparation. The Fair also offered free on-site resume screening by 20 volunteer hiring managers from across the county. Read the press release.

John Caulfield joined a group of about 70 local citizens and employers for the ribbon cutting at the new WorkSource Center in Mountlake Terrace on February 20, 2013. The Center is located at 6405 218th Street SW; Suite 100.

WDCSC joined the nation to celebrate AmeriCorps Week March 9-17 to recognize the commitment of AmeriCorps members and alums by highlighting the extraordinary impact AmeriCorps makes across the nation every day. WDCSC currently hosts two AmeirCorps VISTA members and one AmeriCorps member. WDCSC also employs two AmeriCorps alumni. Read the press release.

Draft Strategic Plan available for public comment; public forum on 2.28.13
Workforce Development Council Snohomish County is pleased to present our draft strategic and operations plan for public comment.
The plan, "Promoting a Globally Competitive Workforce for Snohomish County: Four-Year Strategic and Operations Plan 2013-2017 - Draft, " can be found the the WDCSC website here. Comments, which may be sent to Samantha Brown, will be taken until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13th, 2013.
In addition, WDCSC is hosting a public comment forum on Thursday February 28th from Noon-1:00 p.m. in the Workforce Development Council Snohomish County board room. This event is free and open to the public.

Everett community College is hosting information sessions about three grant-funded training prorams in advanced manufacturing: manufacturing pre-employment, composites, and precision machining. Dates and locations for the information sessions are below.
